Slievemaoil Stud is located in Co, Wicklow about 60 miles from Ireland’s Capital city Dublin. A family run business, Slievemaoil Stud prides itself on breeding and developing quality Irish Sport Horses. Our objective is to breed horses from proven bloodlines with confirmation, temperament and ability suitable for eventing, showjumping, dressage hunting etc.
Owned by Michael Byrne the farm is on 230 acres of land with a deep tradition in agriculture. Slievemaoil Stud produce an average of 30 foals per year from a quality herd of mares having recieved the ‘quality broodmare’ status awarded by the Irish Horse Board.
Mares are sired by the top Irish Stallions and all have the world famous Irish Draft breeding in their background. Sires of mares include: Cloverhill; Diamond Lad; Cavilier Royal; Cruising; Pride of Shaunlara; Laughtons Flight; Master imp; Ginger Dick; etc.
Foals are also sired by mostly Irish stallions including: Master imp; Puissance; Laugtons Flight; Ghareeb; Coevers Diamond Boy; Kings Master; Cult Hero; etc. Some foreign stallions are also used including: Harlaquin Du Carel;, Ricardo Z; Guidam; etc.
Horses at Slievemaoil Stud are well handled from an early age. There are always plenty of horses for sale all of which are bred on our own farm. Horses are for sale from foals to four year olds. Inspection facilities are available to demonstrate lunging over poles, movement, etc. For customers interested in breeding we can provide you with top quality female foundation stock.
